Finding Inspiration in the Shadow of Every Leaf and Petal

Finding Inspiration in the Shadow of Every Leaf and Petal

In 2020, a cyanotype workshop led by Eileen Roscina, a resident artist at the Salina Art Center, would shape my creative path in unexpected ways. We used her prepared paper and we printed with pressed flowers, plants, and our hands.

After the workshop, I acquired the chemicals to begin experimenting with the cyanotype process. At home with my pandemic garden as my muse, I started to play. Today, I'm excited to share the modest process you find here in my shop. It's a process rooted in documentation, inspired by the pioneering work of Anna Atkins.

Every cyanotype session produces prints influenced by the grit of nature and the labor of my backyard garden. Let's celebrate the extraordinary in the ordinary, and find inspiration in the shadow of every leaf and petal.
